Party in a hotel lobby? It’s a quirky idea, but if any hotel were to pull it off it would be Pullman Hotel G. Revamped earlier this year from the old Sofitel Silom, the new look actually makes for a pretty decent party space. We’re still not sure if the red lighting was a hit or miss. It’s known as the most flattering light to be seen in, but it was terrible for pictures. However, it did fit the theme of the night which was “Boudoir.” It was the second round of the monthly G Sessions party held in the lobby, or Playground Bar as it’s called. What was normally the hotel’s check-in counter was now transformed into a full bar with masked men serving bubbles, cocktails, and a selection of wine. Confused guests wheeling their luggages were re-directed up to the Executive Lounge a.k.a. temporary check-in counter on the 27th floor.
Based on the unforgettable grand opening party of Pullman G hotel, we came with high expectations of another party where the theme was thoroughly carried out. Boudoir is the French term for a lady’s dressing chamber where she gets ready for a going out or gets undressed for staying in. It’s an intimate, secretive space that oozes sex appeal. The hotel certainly did its part dressing up all the waiters in sexy boudoir-esque dresses complete with figure enhancing corsets and puffy skirts that bounced with each step.
We were just a little disappointed that no one else brought out the fishnets and stilettos. In fact, some people in the crowd were so under dressed we could’ve been at a rock concert. Imagine cut-off denim shorts with the pockets poking out Britney Spears style, and boots sans heels. That’s the outfit of a girl who just rolled out of bed, not someone trying to get bedded, which is what Boudoir is all about right?
About an hour into the event, two seductive dancers came out to perform a number and they definitely got the Boudoir theme down. Velvet arm-length gloves, striped socks over fishnet stockings and feathered tu-tus that revealed just enough ass with each twirl and booty roll. They were more like actresses playing the role of a seductress, rather than high energy dancers who turned up the heat with their dance moves. Few of us danced that night, but our eyes followed the dancers’ every move.
